Entertainment Space, in Bromley
The clients are keen gardeners so most of this garden is lovely. It is a long narrow space and the area at the bottom didn’t really have a purpose, as you can see from the before shot.
In lockdown the clients decided that the ideal thing to do was create an entertaining space they could use for as much of the year as possible. The space had to include a Braai, which is a south African type of barbeque come oven. We were also asked to hide the ugly back gates without blocking the access.
We went for a patio area which included a relaxing seating space, along with an outdoor prep, cooking and dining zone to compliment. The bladed pergola gives shelter from the elements including shade in this open aspect garden. We set the patio a couple of feet away from the back gates to allow for access and hidden storage behind the braai and Corten screen.
Both the client and I were really happy with how this entertaining space has come together. The husband is South African, so a braai was a must-have for the space, which I hadn’t come across before but love. We have been promised a Braai feast which we are looking forward to!
