Driving back from Reigate I saw a sign for Hever Castle and remembered I wanted to pop in to have a look at the new Faith Garden.
I am familiar with the Royal Mile, having grown up in the Edinburgh environs. However I have to admit I know little of the history of the area or anything about the existence of any gardens. Whilst planning our Edinburgh Festival visit, my Mother came across the ‘Secret Gardens of the Royal Mile Tour’ by Greenyonder Tours, so we decided check it out.
The gardens were part of Amisfield Park House’s estate, a Palladian mansion dating from the 1750’s. The house was demolished in the 1920’s but that grounds remain with a dovecot, stables, summer house and of course The Walled Garden.
